Ulu knife
wood, iron
c. 1950

Uluit are used by Inuinnait women for a variety of tasks. They are used to cut meat, skin hides, and a range of other domestics tasks.

Before the introduction of iron by traders, uluit blades would be made from cold-pounded sheets of natural copper, or from highly ground pieces of slate.
