Sinew thread bag
Mary Avakak

2013
red-throated loon neck, sinew

Sinew becomes brittle once dried, and difficult to use for sewing. Some seamstresses keep coils of sinew in small bags formed from the neck of a loon. The oil from the neck skin ensures that the sinew within remains supply and easy to use.
